CLEAR (City Life Education and Action for Refugees) project supports asylum seekers and refugees in Southampton. CLEAR seeks to improve the quality of life of refugees and asylum seekers by providing free advice and supporting people to access local services. We believe in empowerment through education and in practical action to support the settled and developing refugee communities. EU Welcome provides information and support for arrivals in Southampton from European Union countries. Some of the most common things we help with include: benefits for older people - how they are calculated, how to apply and how to resolve disputes; accessing and arranging care and support including local authority assessments and funding; housing options and obtaining disability-related adaptations. We're an independent local charity and a brand partner of Age UK National.

Unpaid Carers Support

Description

Support for adults providing unpaid care to a loved one, friend or neighbour. We offer information and signposting, Carers' Cards, statutory carers' assessments and emergency plans. After needs are assessed, eligible carers can receive a small direct payment to support wellbeing. Eligibility: any adult providing care and support to an adult (18+ years) who is disabled, ill or elderly, and lives in the area served by Southampton City Council. A more limited range of services is available to parent carers ie. those who provide unpaid care to people aged under 18.

The SEND Information and Advice Service provided by The Rose Road Association aims to empower children and young people with special educational needs/disabilities and their parents/carers to make informed decisions about education, health and social care. We provide a broad range of factual and impartial information about SEN and disability including: Local policy and practice. The Local Offer. Personalisation and Personal Budgets. Law on SEN and disability, health and social care, through suitably independently trained staff. Advice for children, young people and parents on gathering, understanding and interpreting information and applying it to their own situation. Information on the local authority’s processes for resolving disagreements, its complaints procedures and means of redress. Individual casework, representation and support in preparing for and attending meetings. Help in filling in forms and writing letters/reports. Support on exclusions. Support in resolving disagreements, including mediation and tribunals. Signposting to local or national sources of advice, information and support. Links to local parent support groups and forums.
